The Infosys Campus in Nagpur is a state-of-the-art workplace that redefines sustainable campus design in India. Located within the MIHAN Special Economic Zone, the first phase spans 33 acres and accommodates more than 2,000 employees. The campus is designed as a Net Zero energy-enabled development, setting new standards for efficiency, resilience, and cultural rootedness.
Responding to Nagpur’s hot and dry climate, the masterplan integrates passive cooling, climate-responsive orientation, and optimized building morphology. The signature X-shaped form is rotated 22.5 degrees to the Tropic of Cancer, aligning architecture with geography. Shallow 18-metre floor plates ensure that 90 percent of workspaces receive natural daylight, while shading fins minimize glare and solar gain. These fins, inspired by the seven swaras of Indian music and the grooves of a tiger’s skin, are crafted from laminated glass with ceramic paint — blending cultural symbolism with high performance.
Performance is embedded in the structure itself. A radiant waffle slab cooling system stabilizes indoor temperatures, reducing dependency on conventional air-conditioning. Passive ventilation, optimized window-to-wall ratios, and landscaped surfaces regulate the microclimate. Together, these measures deliver a 52 percent reduction in the Energy Performance Index compared to GRIHA benchmarks, enabling the campus to operate at one-fifth the energy use of a typical office building.

The workplace is also designed to foster collaboration and identity. Flexible development centres, breakout pods, and art-filled interiors create a dynamic environment. The 30-metre-tall end walls double as urban canvases, featuring illustrations of Nagpur Fort and a symbolic “mind tree.” Local art, thematic installations, and regionally inspired materials ground the global campus in its cultural context.
The Infosys Campus in Nagpur demonstrates how large-scale workplaces can combine sustainability, cultural resonance, and human-centric design — a model for India’s urban future.
