Conceived as a spatial and experiential connector within the Ashoka University campus, the Impact Centre brings together academic exchange, executive living, and public engagement within a climate-responsive institutional ecosystem. Strategically aligned along the university’s existing ceremonial axis, the project reinforces the spatial coherence of the campus while establishing a strong visual and pedestrian relationship with surrounding institutional landmarks.
The programme integrates flexible academic infrastructure with executive housing, creating a mixed-use environment that supports learning, collaboration, conferences, and residential hospitality. The academic component includes seminar halls, tiered classrooms, collaborative learning spaces, galleries, and a 300-seat auditorium designed to accommodate large congregational events. Complementing this is the executive housing block with suites, lounges, banquet facilities, and hospitality spaces envisioned for visiting faculty, delegates, and institutional gatherings.
Responding to the composite climate of Haryana, the design employs a series of passive environmental strategies to enhance thermal comfort across the campus experience. Shaded courts, naturally ventilated circulation spaces, thermal massing, solar-buffer corridors, evaporative cooling techniques, and landscaped terraces collectively reduce heat gain and create comfortable microclimatic conditions throughout much of the year. Fragmented built forms and interconnected green courts improve airflow while fostering visual porosity and social interaction across levels.
Architecturally, the project reinterprets traditional Indian spatial elements through a contemporary lens. Inspired by Ashoka University’s iconic jaali portals, the façade combines translucent materials, shaded terraces, and glowing lantern-like volumes to create a distinct institutional identity. The result is a vibrant academic destination that seamlessly integrates landscape, climate, movement, and community into a unified architectural experience.
