Varanasi
DoubleTree by Hilton in Varanasi, the design intent begins with the city itself, one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited places and a setting where ritual, colour, craft, and everyday life remain inseparable. Rather than applying a generic language of luxury, the interiors draw from Varanasi’s own cultural and sensory landscape: the stillness of water at dawn, the movement of river life, the tactile richness of Banarasi textiles and metal craft, the glow of aarti, and the grounded permanence of its built heritage. These references are organised through the five elemental themes of earth, water, wind, fire, and ether, allowing each part of the hotel to carry a distinct yet coherent identity.
The public areas are planned as immersive arrival and gathering spaces. Lobby, reception, lift lobbies, banquet halls, pre-function areas, restaurant, and bar are shaped through reflective surfaces, patterned screens, carved references, warm metals, and layered lighting that translate the visual memory of the ghats into a more contemporary hospitality register. The bar and dining spaces are more atmospheric and ceremonial, while the spa adopts a calmer, more fluid expression inspired by water and the meditative quality of the river.
This narrative continues into the suites. Executive and Presidential accommodations are designed as quieter, more private interiors, where warm neutral palettes are enriched with crafted detailing, subtle pattern, bespoke artwork, and material references to local textiles, boats, wave formations, and ceremonial motifs. The result is a hotel that does not merely allude to place, but absorbs it with precision, offering guests an experience of luxury that is unmistakably rooted in Varanasi.
